Sometimes it takes a demon to defeat a demon.
Kaevaer is searching the Outlands for his exiled brother, R'shey. His search carries him to a strange desert city where he hopes to rest and recover from the ordeal of crossing the trackless waste. He meets the servant girl, Mellilia and finds pleasure in her embrace.
But things in the City are not as they seem, and Kaevaer is taken captive by the Holy Warriors of the City. Told he is to be a sacrifice to Shaba'amlaillee, what Kaevaer is asked to yield isn't his life, it's the pain and pleasure to be found at the hands of the Chosen of Shaba'amlaillee.
Genre: Erotic Fantasy Adventure Romance
Heat Rating: Volcanic
Warnings: GLBT contains m/m scenes and gender bending (also contains m/f)
I was immediately swept into the visually rich language of Shaba’amlaillee. The somber beauty of the narrative drives the story’s pace and sweeps you away to the mystical world inhabited by the alluring, strong-willed Kaevaer. Despite the fact he’s obviously a seasoned traveler and warrior, he stumbles into danger and unusual situations. I was intrigued by his fortitude and resilience so much that I hope the author writes a sequel. There’s also an intriguing underlying message about celebrating and embracing our gender roles that I warmed to. Vyktoria Howard has brought to radiant life a world and characters with her exquisitely inventive writing and keen imagination. Catch a peek at the gorgeous cover! It’s a wonderful compliment to Kaevaer and the story. I certainly didn’t want things to end and I will keep an eye out for the return of Kaevaer.
